CMA Fest 2015

A few weeks ago, I was luck enough to attend my second CMA Fest. My girlfriend Whitney has been going for years.. I mean like 8 years…and she finally got me on the bandwagon. A long weekend full of girlfriends, drinks, food, and country music, whats not to love?!

The festival lasts throughout the week but the top acts do not start until Thursday night. I worked most of the day Thursday then met up with my brother who was kind enough to drive me to Nashville so that I wouldn’t have to drive home on Sunday night.

ThursI got to Nashville just in time to grab a quick dinner and make it to LP Field. We met up with Stacey and Toni who we met last year and have stayed in contact with throughout the year. Thank goodness for social media! They ended up getting tickets 2 rows behind us this year.

Around lunch we headed downtown and toured around the Fan Fair area where we got a lot of free samples, saw the Budweiser Clydesdales, and caught a interview session with members of the Grand Ole Opry including Josh Turner and Kristian Bush (guy from Sugarland).

Of course, no trip to downtown is complete without walking past our wedding venue. It’s just as beautiful as I remembered!

What is a trip to CMA Fest without visiting the Fireball booth?! Saturday morning consisted of putting on fake tattoos like we were teenagers or perhaps toddlers. In either case, it was fun.

We met up with Stephanie, a friend from high school, and bar hopped most of the day. Again, trust me when I say we were just trying to find someplace cool šŸ˜‰

That evening, it was Luke Bryan night which is what most of the women at the festival came for. Ha! He was the ending act and played 4 songs.. Only 4 dang songs. Are you kidding me?! The crowd was not happy to say the least. No worries though, Whit pulled out her phone and played a little “Country Girl Shake it for Me” while we all danced through the row. Our neighbors either hated us or loved us. I don’t think there was any in-between.

Sunday was hands down my favorite day. Not only did we get to see Eric Church, but it was just an overall laid back day. I think the weather was a little cooler too which could have had a huge impact.

Once we got downtown, Whit headed to tour the Luke Bryan exhibit while I walked around trying to exercise off some of the junk food I had been eating… that was until I got hot and decided it was time to cool off with these ladies.

Sunday night was so much fun! The seating is assigned for the night concerts which means you become close to those around you. There was a family sitting behind us and we learned on Saturday that the mothers birthday was Sunday. We celebrated with them and when Darrius sang “Wagon Wheel” it was so fitting. I wish I knew her name but all we called her was “Mama”.

Whit and I both became friends with her daughter on FB so hopefully we will see them again next year! If you ever get the chance to attend the festival do yourself a favor and go!

Tuesday ABC airedĀ Country’s Night to Rock which was a special that highlighted some of the performances from CMA Fest. I was so luck to get to witness all of the acts in person. If you ever get the chance, GO!!! So much fun!

tattooYes, we did walk around with a temporary tattoo to match Miranda’s.

CMAFEST

Enjoyed so many artists, of course EC was my favorite! It rained Saturday night but that didn’t stop us! We also met Stacey and Toni who were so much fun!

June 5th, Miranda Lambert opened her store, Pink Pistol, for a temporary time in Nashville. During CMA fest the line to get in was ridiculous so Whitney and I took an impromptu trip on July 26, the day before the store closed. Of course, we had to buy the famous “Thelma & Louise” shirts!

I may have gotten a little carried away with my purchases. Oh well, the PINK PISTOL shirt is super comfy!

While we were in town, we checked out theĀ Nashville Farmers Market where we split this delicious pizza from Bella Nashville. The ingredients were so fresh! I definitely recommend checking them out!

Tuesday night I broke out my Thelma shirt while reliving CMA fest. All I was missing was my sidekick Louise!
